Fortitudinous
Many people just see J.K. Rowling as the author of the book series Harry Potter, but she has gone through a lot of struggles in her life, making her very fortitudinous. She is fortitudinous because in the early 90’s she became very poor, as said here, “Rowling was living on state benefits in the flat with her youngest daughter, Jessica, after the breakdown of her first marriage…”(http://www.telegraph.co.uk). This is fortitudinous because to get through poverty and post-divorce she had to be strong for her daughter, Jessica, and for herself. Many people have trouble doing that in those situations. Another example of why she is fortitudinous is because her mother, Anne, died suddenly from multiple sclerosis, a decade after being diagnosed. Here, on http://jkrowling.com/, it says, “In December 1990, and after a decade-long battle...J.K. Rowling’s mother – Anne – succumbed to multiple sclerosis at the age of just 45,”. Based on this evidence, it is obvious that J.K. Rowling is fortitudinous because 1-2 years after her mother’s death, while she was still mourning, she got a divorce, and became very poor. She had to be very determined to be able to go through all of this in a 3 year time period. The final evidence to show J.K. Rowling is fortitudinous, is this, “...her struggles with depression during her 20s.“"... it's not sadness. I know sadness. Sadness is to cry and to feel. But it's that cold absence of feeling…”. (http://www.oprah.com) and “JK Rowling has revealed that she contemplated suicide while suffering from depression as a struggling single mother.” (http://www.telegraph.co.uk). This shows that she is fortitudinous because she went through depression, caused by her mother’s death, divorce, and poverty, but still pulled through and sought for help, becoming mentally strong after this. She did this after contemplating suicide, but realised she couldn’t do that and had to be strong for her daughter, Jessica. J.K. Rowling is very fortitudinous, shown by the evidence and reasoning I have above.
